Why is Fractional technology superior to "classic" Lasers?

Fractional laser is one of the most advanced procedures available in anti-aging medicine. The result is a more youthful, glow skin while the recovery time is extremely short. Within this treatment, thousands of tiny holes are created on the surface of the skin, reaching the dermis. The tissue that remains intact between the holes promotes the healing process and at the same time stimulates the collagen production. Outcome of this procedure is an improved skin in texture and firmness.

In which cases can it be applied?

• To smooth wrinkles.
• Acne scars.
• Photo-aging.
• Periocular and perioral wrinkles.
• Surgical and post traumatic scars.

How does the skin look like right after the treatment?

The skin, after the Fractional laser treatment, shows mild to moderate swelling (edema) and redness (erythema) which recede the following days. The skin gradually becomes “brown” which fades away slowly. Depending on the “depth” of the treatment, patients can return to work within 1-5 days. The use of make-up is permitted from the day following treatment.

We can see an improvement in the texture of the skin almost immediately after the treatment while the improvement in the wrinkles and the scaring continues for the next few months.

Is the treatment painful?

The use of local anaesthetic cream is necessary before the procedure. Most patients describe a feeling as sunburn or burning that recedes quickly.

How long does the treatment last?

It depends on the issue and the area being treated. It usually lasts 60 minutes.

How many treatments do I need?

We recommend 3 sessions, 4-6 weeks apart. Patients with severe scarring and wrinkles may require up to 4-6 sessions.

What should I be careful of right after?

It is extremely important to avoid sun exposure and apply sunscreen until the skin is fully recovered.

During the first few days it is necessary to keep the skin “moist” using the appropriate moisturisers and to avoid “peeling off” with the hands since this can lead to scarring. In cases of a history of herpes simplex infection, it is advisable for the patient to be preventively covered with anti-herpes treatment.

Are there any possible side effects?

Common side effects are redness, dryness and exfoliation of the skin as well as mild itching, which are gradually restored. Rarely, pigmented disorders can occur (dark patches), while scars can be extremely rare in very aggressive treatments.

Are there any contraindications?

Fractional laser treatment is not indicated in people suffering from atopic dermatitis, psoriasis or tendency to develop hypertrophic scars or keloids. It is also contraindicated in active skin infection.

Can it be combined with other aesthetic procedures?

The fractional laser is extremely well combined with ACR autologous mesotherapy (even during the same session), mesotherapy, wrinkle relaxers, hyaluronic acid fillers, threads.
