Hair loss is the increased loss of hair on the scalp. A normal person loses 50-120 hair a day. An increase in this number leads to hair loss.
What are the reasons that cause hair loss?
• Hormonal disorders: thyroid diseases, polycystic ovary syndrome, the pregnancy period and menopause in women.
• Autoimmune diseases: e.g. systemic lupus erythematosus, diabetes etc.
• Iron deficiency anaemia e.g. in excessive bleeding during women’s period.
• Excessive stress.
• Exhausting diets poor in proteins and calories.
• Some medications e.g. isotretinoin, antidepressants.
• Chemotherapies.
• Serious injury.
How do we explore the causes for hair loss?
• We carry out blood tests to see whether there is anaemia or some hormonal disorder.
• In some cases, we perform a trichogram which helps us define the type of hair loss and objectively evaluate the effectiveness of our treatment approach.
A trichogram is a simple and painless diagnostic method during which the type of hair and the ratio of normal / pathological hair are examined.
What are the treatments against hair loss?
The underlying disease must be explored and treated.
• We use multivitamin formulations with cystine and various trace elements as main ingredients.
• Local formulations: We usually use combinations of various substances such as minoxidil, finasteride, dutasteride, cortisone, progesterone (in women), oestradiol (in women) in the form of lotions.
• Mesotherapy with mixtures of vitamins, trace elements and amino acids.
• We also use ACR autologous mesotherapy: It seems that the growth factors contained in the plasma help fight hair loss and grow hair with the following mechanisms:
a. They stimulate the hair follicle to produce healthier hair.
b. They help create new microvessels which channel nutrients, oxygen and trace elements into the hair follicle.
