Cellulite is called the appearance of skin-deepening abnormalities on the buttocks, thighs and lower abdomen of women, resembling an orange peel. This is due to the deposition of fat between the connective tissue cells, which have lost their elasticity under the skin. Cellulite affects about 90% of adult women and appears to be due to hereditary, hormonal, nutritional factors, and to a lesser extent depends on the level of daily exercise.
How can cellulite be treated?;
Various non-invasive treatments are used to treat cellulite, which are often combined (this of course depends on the “severity” of the cellulite). However, in all cases, adequate water intake, a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, few saturated fat and mild exercise to enhance the effect, are recommended.
The methods used are:
Mesotherapy
This technique can be used not only for anti-aging treatments but for treating cellulite as well. There are special substances that help to break down fat, improve microcirculation and drain lymph.
How is it applied?
Special substances are infused with very fine needles (6mm) deep into the skin followed by a gentle massage. There are several “cocktails” depending on the case. Suitable ingredients used are: caffeine, L-carnitine, artichoke extract, Asian Centella, Rutin & Melilot Extract, organic silicium with DMAE (ingredient against loosening). The treatment lasts 15-30 minutes, spaced 2 weeks apart and 6-8 sessions are usually needed depending on the severity of the problem
Is it painful?
The use of topical anesthetic cream helps to minimize any discomfort.
hat does the skin look after mesotherapy?
Minor bruises and mild irritation remain on the injected sites for a few days after the treatment. The use of Arnica in capsules as well as in cream helps to minimize the bruises.
How long do the results last?
It is different for each patient. Due to the fact that cellulite depends in wide extend on genetics, it tends to recur. For this reason, we recommend repetitive maintenance treatments every year. Apart from mesotherapy, patients should follow a proper diet and mild exercise.
Are there contraindications?
• People with an allergy to special substances against cellulite.
• People who take anticoagulants or anti-inflammatory drugs.
Is it combined with other treatments?
It is perfectly combined with Cavitation, RF and Drainage, CelluErase.
Cavitation
It is a focused ultrasound device which is applied on the treated area .Ultrasound leads to liquefaction of fat cells and destruction of their cell membrane, which is removed by the lymphatic and venous pathway into the circulation and eventually excreted from the body by urine. The same method has also been successfully used to reduce local fat (e.g. thigs, waist, arms). Cavitation is commonly used in combination with RF technology, which appears to help to reduce cellulite but also to tighten the skin.
Is the Cavitation treatment painful? When can I go back to my activities?
It is a completely painless, non-invasive treatment. Some patients can “hear” the ultrasounds during the treatment. After the session they can immediately return to their daily routine without restriction.
How long does it last?
It usually lasts 10-30 minutes, depending on the treated area.
How many sessions are needed?
It depends on the severity of the problem. 3-8 sessions may be needed, spaced 20 days apart.
Are there contraindications?
This treatment is not recommended for people suffering from renal failure.
How long do the results last?
The results can be long lasting as long as the patient maintains his body weight.
Which treatments can it be combined with?
It can be combined with mesotherapy against cellulite, RF and Drainage.
Lymphatic massage (drainage)
Lymphatic massage is an adjuvant treatment and it is combined with Cavitation and RF, usually in the same session. They are devices that perform strong lymphatic massage and by increasing the microcirculation and thus tissue oxygenation they help removing toxic substances and fat degraded by Cavitation with the lymph. This improves the effect on the cellulite treatment.
CelluErase
It is a procedure with which the bands of fibrous connective tissue among which adipocytes are trapped and create the “orange peel” appearance are destructed. This way, cellulite is improved.
How is it applied?
The areas we want to treat are marked and local anaesthesia is performed. We use the special device (CelluErase) to destruct the fibrous connective tissue bands by mild circular movements.
What does my skin look like after CelluErase treatment?
There is a mild swelling and bruises for a few days after. These bruises can be reduced with the use of arnica capsules and cream. The result is completed in about 4 weeks.
Are repetitive treatments needed?
Usually one session is enough. This, of course, depends on the severity of the problem.
Are there contraindications?
It cannot be applied:
• On skins suffering from e.g. eczema, psoriasis, herpes.
• On people who take anticoagulants or anti-inflammatory drugs.
Which treatments can it be combined with?
It is combined with mesotherapy, Cavitation, RF and Drainage.
