Local fat which cannot be dealt with diet or exercise is a problem that concerns many people. Cryolipolysis is a new method that can face this problem non-invasively.
What is cryolipolysis?
Cryolipolysis is a non-invasive method that causes permanent local fat loss and is FDA-approved (Food and Drug Administration). Researches mention that when an adipose tissue cell (adipocyte) is subjected to strong cooling for a certain time a biological death occurs (apoptosis). Then all destroyed lipocytes are eliminated by using the normal body’s functions through the lymphatic system.
What is the process of the treatment?
After a measurement with a special device and a careful planning of the treated area, we apply the heads of the CLATUU machine. The adipose tissue is isolated and brought under pressure into a cold treatment chamber. Very high cooling (up to -9°C) is achieved without affecting the surrounding tissues. The heads remain active for an hour and then they are removed.
What do I feel? What does my skin look like after the treatment?
You will feel intense pull, numbness, mild pain or cramps on the treated area. These symptoms will subside after the first 5 minutes. After the end of the treatment the area will feel hard, very red or even bruised, swollen and sensitive. A massage is applied for approximately 5 minutes since it’s been proved to improve the final result of the treatment.
What will my skin look like and how will I feel over the next few days?
During the following days, the treated area may continue to be red or even bruised, swollen and sensitive. These symptoms can last 2-3 weeks with a gradual improvement. In some cases, there may be hypoesthesia, numbness or mild pain like after intense exercise which can last up to 3-4 weeks.
What should I be careful of during the following days?
We should avoid intense exercise and the use of sauna for only a week. We strongly advise our patients to have some kind of exercise like mild exercise or walking and to drink approximately 2 1/2 lt of water daily.
When are the results of cryolipolysis visible?
The final result is complete and visible after 3 months. In the meantime, the patient should keep their weight stable.
To which areas is it applied?
• Abdomen.
• Buttocks.
• Thighs (inside and outside surfaces).
• Knees.
• Back.
• Arms.
Who is the ideal candidate for cryolipolysis?
People of normal body weight or slightly overweight with identified local fat.
*Attention, cryolipolysis is not a dieting method and is not indicated to overweight people.
In which cases is cryolipolysis contraindicated?
The cryolipolysis treatment is contraindicated to:
• Cryo-hemoglobinemia.
• Paroxysmal cryo-haemoglobinuria.
• Pregnancy or lactation.
• Known sensitivity to cold, like urticaria (hives) from cold or Raynaud syndrome.
• Peripheral circulation disorder in the treated area.
• Neuropathic disorders, like postherpetic neuralgia or diabetic neuropathy.
• Sensation disorders.
• Open or infected wounds.
• Blood disorder or constant use of anticoagulants (blood thinners).
• Recent surgery or scar tissue in the treated area.
• Hernia close to the treated area.
• Skin disorder like eczema, dermatitis or rash in the treated area.
• Active implant devices like pacemakers or defibrillators.
Which treatments can it be combined with?
It is combined with mesotherapy to get rid of local fat and cellulite as well as with RF.
