We suggest:

• Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with lukewarm water. Use soap and thoroughly wash all parts of your hands, between your fingers and around your nails.

• I have dry hands and suffer from eczema. Am I allowed to wash my hands all the time? Keep washing them thoroughly. Washing helps prevent disease by removing harmful bacteria and viruses.

• Dry your hands with a clean towel but leave some water on them. You can also let your hands dry without wiping them. While your hands are slightly wet, apply a hand cream or ointment.

• Apply a pea-sized amount of hand cream or ointment into your skin, making sure you cover your fingers and nails too. We recommend using a fragrance-free and dye-free cream or ointment that contains natural oils or Vaseline. This moisturizer is less irritating to dry, cracked skin. Don't neglect your moisturizer. Dry, cracked skin makes it easier for bacteria and other germs to enter your body. When the skin is moist, it can better protect you from germs.

• When using hand sanitizer in the form of a gel, apply hand cream or ointment as soon as the hand sanitizer dries. These disinfectants contain high levels of alcohol in order to be effective in killing germs and viruses and are very irritating to the skin.

• People with chronic skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, etc. need special creams that should be prescribed by a dermatologist.
