How does the skin age on the neck and décolté?
The skin on the neck and décolté is generally much thinner and more fragile than the skin on the rest of our body. Sun damage disproportionately affects this area, causing brown spots, diffuse redness, broken blood vessels, wrinkles and sagging sooner and in bigger extent comparing to the face skin.
There is also smaller amount of fat on the neck and décolté and its loss over the years makes the signs of aging in these areas even more intense. In recent years we have seen the impact of smartphones, on the skin of our neck, in the form of "techneck"! They make the horizontal lines on the neck even more pronounced.
How we deal with skin ageing of the neck and chest?
We try to achieve these goals: tighten underlying tissues, repair lost volume and improve radiance and skin texture.
The first step is achieved by using ultrasound and radiofrequency devices to stimulate collagen and elastin production, which tightens the tissue and prevents skin loosening. These treatments can also improve the lines on the neck and the creases in décolté.
In addition, we use hyaluronic acid fillers to restore volume or muscle relaxers to relax muscle activity in these areas to improve the jawline and the lines of the neck.
For overweight patients, where there is submental fat under the chin (double-chin), fat-soluble injections may be used to dissolve local fat in combination with radiofrequency (RF).
Finally we use special Lasers and IPL systems to treat brown spots, broken blood vessels (varicose veins) and diffuse redness.
At home we recommend the patients to use special cosmetic products and sunscreens on their daily routine.
